The following is good information about virtual education for K-12. The education can be just as good, if not better, but you will need to include life skills in the virtual environment and you MUST have parental involvement. Additionally, there should be regular checkups between child and teacher and notices to parents if the child doesn't log into the virtual environment to work on schoolwork.
